How to make stereo songs play on 5.1 speakers

I have a 5.1 surround setup. I'm looking to get music to play on all five speakers on my music. Right now it plays it on just the 2.1 speakers and the rear ones play nothing. I'd like what's playing on the left speaker to play on the rear and and what's on the right speaker play on rear right something like that so there is a surround effect, even if the song was made for just stereo and not 5.1.
Any advice?
