Playlist confusion

I really like vlc player
I have 1 problem- and am not sure if it is just cos I can't work something simple out...

First I managed to create playlists by loading a directory and deleting everything I didnt want- and then saving it.(and now opening the playlist and adding files and saving it...)
Then- I have to go to that folder and open that playlist-

there does not seem to be an easy way to just bring my playlists up from the player....or is there?

Is there an easy way to add files to a playlist? Other than by opening a specific playlist and then adding a folder or whatever to it and then saving it?

hmmm..seems it is something i could suggest to the developers
I love VLC..recommend it to everyone...
and..tell people.. that..at present the playlist function is not as user friendly as a certain bloated limited function proprietary iProduct
