Black screen on second monitor. [mac os x 10.4.1]

Postby dogstar » 14 Jul 2005 03:23

Hi. Im running 0.82 in mac os x 10.4.1 and have some problems.
Any video shows fine on main screen runned by nvidia gforce 4 Ti 4600, but when most of the movie window enters the second screen, it goes blank. Funny thing is that as long most of it stays in the main screen it is still showing. I assume this got to do with what graphics card is running it. The card running the second screen is a ATI Rage 128 16Mb at 1024x resolution.

This used to work fine in previous versions of vlc.

Any ideas?

Great product btw :)

Here's an observation, although it doesn't answer your Mac question.

VLC 0.8.2 works splendidly with my Windows dual-monitor setup. I can drag the VLC window back and forth between my two displays while a DVD is playing. As the VLC window passes the 50% point, the first left half goes black and the second half starts playing. When I select full-screen mode, it enlarges properly and affects only one display. That's exactly how a video overlay program should work. VLC is the first movie player I've seen that doesn't crash or misbehave in some way when I enable the second monitor.

I'm running Win2k on a dual Athlon machine with a GeForce 6800 card and recent nVidia drivers. I have two 1600x1200 LCD monitors, with the second monitor is rotated 90 degrees.

try opengl output to span the video over both screens. that works fine for me (winxp sp2, g4 ti4200)...

when i use standard video output (directx i assume) ive got this "one half is black" thing, too.

cheers,
