I am trying to accomplish the following (below), but since I haven't done this before was hoping I could get some help from someone who has experience with this.
Stream Live HD TV (from DirecTV receiver) over my local network.
The reason I want to do this is we already have multiple receivers at our office, but in the places we don't there are computers with dual monitor setups already in place (so the networking infrastructure is already there). Obviously we would all have to watch the same channel being that it is a stream, but that is what we want anyway.
So what I am thinking I will need would be:
-PC
-HD Capture/Tuner Card
-VLC setup as streaming server on the PC
Then the clients would use a media player (such as VLC) to connect to the network stream.
So my question is, is there anything that I am missing that I would need?
If not, are there only certain capture/tuner cards that are compatible with setting up with VLC as an input to use for a stream?
There may be a better way to do this altogether (maybe even without VLC), but i figured this would be a good place to start.
