VLC and SPDIF

Postby Moyzboy09 » 22 Oct 2012 00:36

Hi. I have been using VLC for many years now and I have always set it to use SPDIF when available. Until recently I haven't had a problem with it. Then I changed my graphics card, I now have a Gigabyte nVidia GTX-660, and now I can only intermittently get SPDIF sound (when I say intermittent, I mean 3-5 times over 6 months or so). I use my computer as my home theater through my amp, an Onkyo 717. I have on the very odd day been able to get SPDIF sound but after re-starting my computer I lose it. I only use the SPDIF in a software fashion, not using a cable in a hardware situation.

As I say, for many years I had absolutely no problems but now I do. Does anyone have any idea as to how to fix this? I have spent days trying to sort this out and Googling only seems to bring up answers regarding the hardware, not the software.

I had it working yesterday and today I don't. PLEASE HELP ME.

Thanks.
KEITH
