Youtube Live Not Opening in VLC

I've tried to find solutions on google and the VideoLAN forums. I can view regular Youtube content in VLC but anything using Youtube Live streaming just keeps trying to open until it stops spooling and nothing happens.

I'm hoping to figure this out by tonight for the US Presidential Debate, I've been using http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIGUtFGmWHc as a test.

Any suggestions?

I'm using VLC 2.0.3 with the 2.04 nightly build youtube lua script in Mac OS X.
