Change Screen ratio

As VLC has the bad habit of not asking for the language before installing, I will have to try to translate my german setting.

When I switch to whole screen picture, there is only one tool line left, in my case at the bottom of the page. It is the line that vanishes automatically after five seconds, unless the mopuse points to it.

In this line I have added the menu item which allows me to change the ratio settings, when I play a video from my computer on an attached TV-
I usually need 4:3, occasionally even 5:4, otherwise the movie will be squashed flat.
But most of the time the change does not work, I have uninstalled the feature, and re-installed a few times, no change.

Is that the way it is, or is there a trick, that I do not know about? Are there too many features in that last tool line?

When I right click on the screeen, then the feature works withot a problem anytime. But it is anuisamnce to dom it that way, as it even blocks have of the screen....

You know you can use the 'a' key to change aspect Ratio?
You know you can change the language in the first panel of preferences?
If the AR selection in the fullscreen controller does not work, this is a bug, and it should be reported and fixed.
