Stream computer's line-out over network.

Postby pyruvate » 24 Aug 2012 10:28

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to use VLC to stream the audio which goes through the line-out (green jack on motherboard's back panel which usually goes to speakers) over a network. I already know how to set up a stream on a network, but is it possible to have the "source" be the line-out of the computer in any way? I haven't been able to find any program which can do what I'm trying to accomplish.

If using PulseAudio, you can configure VLC to stream the "monitor of" the audio output from the audio capture devices list.

On other systems, this is not possible.
