Subtitles outside of main image

Postby Sykes » 20 Aug 2012 22:26

Hi guys,

I've been searching, have found only some questions asked on the forums years ago, but no real solutions.

So basically... I have a 4:3 screen (or 16:9 for most people), movies are usually 2,35:1 or so... Therefore, there black bars which could be used for subtitles.

I know VLC can render only within the video area, but is there a way to add adds black bars to the video so the subs could be rendered in that area? If you do a Google-search, this has been requested lots of times in the last 6 years or so. Or if the possibility is already there and I missed it, please advise... Thanks :) (I don't want to use another player.)

BTW lots of subtitle questions lately, aren't there?
