CVC1

Postby madness263 » 16 Aug 2012 00:50

When I try to play a media file I get the following message:

"No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "CVC1". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

Now before people point out the obvious,I'm not looking for a fix for VLC.

What I'm looking for is if anyone knows of a way to change the format from CVC1 to something that will play on VLC?
Or perhaps another media player that supports CVC1?

I know this is probably the wrong forum for this and my post will shortly be removed.

But I'm just looking for a little help.

Just incase here are the properties of the video itself:

Type of File: Video Clip (.avi)
Size: 17.7 MB (18,610,688 bytes)
Length: 00:08:41
Frame Width: 320
Frame Height: 240
Data Rate: 285kbps
Total Bitrate: 285kbps
Frame Rate: 15frames/second

Would really appreciate any help I can get?

Hi
Can you provide a sample file?

Annoyingly I can't.

They are videos my girlfriend sent me and I think you can guess why I might be reluctant to share them.

I have tried a couple other media players that have had their own form of errors which I can share with you if that helps at all?

Really wish I had a safe sample file I could share because I know it would help resolve my issue.

A sample file is required. Without a sample nothing can be done.

Ask your girlfriend to take an innocuous video of flowers then. I don't really see the problem.

the CVC extension points to cVideo, so looks like licensed codec from a commercial product:

Cheers for the swift responses guys.

Not a big flower guy either

Now i cant get an innocuous video for you so i chose the smallest video in length i have.

Annoyingly i havnt seen it yet (because it doesnt work) so here's hoping it's safe

If not its only 12 seconds long.

It wont let you stream for obvious reasons but it still lets you download and the download acts in the same manner.

Skip that. I registered the codecs inside there: not working. I think they were made with a program without choosing the proper output format and the CVC1 is just a label/placeholder/variable. The Dell Webcam Center software just being an example. Especially since the metadata is one big mess too...

Can you ask your girlfriend what she used to make the videos/how she has recorded them and with what camera/device?

The webcam is built into her laptop.

I think it's a Dell laptop but I'm just guessing

Unfortunately her laptop was stolen and I have no clue as to what program she uses, I know skype was used but I'm not sure if that was the one that recorded anything, not even sure it can record.

Without any further info there's nothing we can do. It's very difficult to find an unknown codec especially if the program that was used for creating the videos didn't bother to properly mark the resulting files with something useful.

Especially if it is very weird and obscure codec.
