Seeking long youtube movie streams

When playing network streams (http links to youtube movies in my case), seeking will freeze the video. Is there any way of seeking such streams?

yep, this is twoflower (2.0.2). At first, I thought I was doing something funny with libvlc, then I noticed that the player flunkes as well...
