Does VLC 2.0.3 rechonize lua file format for extensions?

When ever I try to download extensions for VLC the extensions gets saved as php instead of lua. I have tried to change the extension format from php to lua but VLC will not rechonize it no matter what I do. I don't know if this is a bug or not but it seems to me like vlc 2.0.3 can't rechonize lua files for extensions.
