How do I extract jpeg images out of my Avi

Postby lost » 10 Apr 2012 06:30

Hi guys I am a little lost here but I feel I am somewhat close but I need your help.
I am trying to extract and save as .jpgs the images that make up this AVI. I am attempting to do this using cmd running under administrator, something of which I know absolutely nil about.
This is what i have got so far
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\VLC.exe" "F:\My Videos\Jess 21st montage\Jessica's 21st.avi"--video-filter=scene--vout=dummy--start-time=1--stop-time=5--scene-ratio=1--scene-prefix=img---scene-path="F:\My Videos\Jess 21st montage\jpegs from avi"\ vlc://quit

This is a movie that was originally made up from a collection of .jpg photos but I now need this output in the order contained within the movie.
All that happens is that VLC flashes open on the screen and closes down in a millisecond or so when I hit enter in the cmd window.
Is anybody able to point out the error of my ways in the above string?
Any help will be very much appreciated as I have been trying to figure this out all over Easter and it is now driving me crazyyyyyy.
Thanks in advance

Set the scene preferences in the preferences, and not in command line.

Thank you Jean-Baptiste I have already tried setting those in preferences but it does not work. I just tried trimming out the scene preferences in the above cmd string and the same thing happens. VLC flashes open and closed in an millisecond.
I need some more precise advice on how to adjust the cmd string to the correct language as I do not have experience in this at all?? I nam trying to batch extract all these jpgs in one operation.
So if you can help further or if anyone can help please chime in.
Hoping for a positive result
Kindest regards but still Lost
