Extracting files(jpeg) from a player

Hi
I have a new player file and everything is fine but I now want to extract the files out again, long story.
Is this possible?

Sorry for jumping on this thread. But since it's related...

VLC 2.0.1: I was trying to set screengrabs as jpg (instead of png) > restart VLC for change to take effect > VLC gives an error when trying to make a screengrab:

Streaming / Transcoding failed: VLC could not open the encoder.
PNG works perfectly, but I need jpg.
