Getting distored picture but sound works fine

Recently I updated Vlc to 2.0, now whenever I try to play a video I get a distorted picture with sound. If I uninstall 2.0 and reinstall 1.1.11 it works fine. I have a T-42 lenovo laptop with Windows XP pro. Also I installed 2 on my dell laptop and everything works fine. Something about the Lenovo did not like the upgrade to 2. Just wondering If anyone else has this problem.
