Display too bright when playing DVDs (0.8.2)

Postby pink37panther » 14 Jul 2005 02:23

I use VLC a lot to play DVDs, but the other day I tried it and the display was way too bright. I tried to adjust some stuff but nothing worked. This was with 0.7.2 so I downloaded the new version and it is still the same thing. Has this happened to anyone/does anyone know what might be wrong?

Maybe this will help.

Ever since I installed my new GeForce 6800 and nVidia driver in Win2k, all my DVD players (including VLC 0.8.2) have wrong brightness/contrast. However, if I merely open my nVidia GeForce 6800 Properties window, the DVD player window suddenly snaps to the correct brightness! It stays fine until I reboot. Weird.

Some time ago, I used the nVidea control panel Overlay settings to adjust my DVD playback brightness and contrast. That lets me make one adjustment that works with all programs that use video overlay. Maybe it's related to the problem.
