freezing vlc-Window

Hello once more dear community!
(I am using Win Vista, vlc 1.1.11.)

I often have multiple vlc-windows open, e.g. am I playing a audiobook in the one over couple of days. I can then just leave it paused.
Sometimes I forget to first open a new vlc-window before clicking on a media-file to play. Then it replaces a running file I don't want to stop running.

I am wondering if there is something like a freeze/protect more, like we have for Tabs in Firefox!
