Black screen at start and end, video black, only sound

I have been using VLC since years, but today when i wanted to watch a movie, and started VLC got a few sec black screen, then the video player started, but there was no image, only sound. Yesterday Vlc worked fine with those videos. As far as i know, I did not install or mess with anything on my computer lately. I tried resetting preferences, but the problem remained. Tried deleting the configuration file as well, but nothing changed. Its like now VLC wasnt installed well. It is weird. A few weeks ago had the same problem, deleted some files from a TEMP directory(some weird REad-only files got downloaded there by accident)- the Temp wasnt even the VLC-s subdirectory, but after i deleted those, vlc worked well. But i cant seem to find that specific Temp file either anymore. Can anyone help me? I really rather not reinstall vlc... There has to be an easier solution.
