I need help with subtitles!

Postby jellybean315 » 05 Jan 2012 06:24

First off, let me go ahead and apologize for my lack of computer knowledge. I'm just trying to help my parents out so they can watch their movies, but I also don't know much about coding, etc.

I am trying to get my subtitles to work. They are Korean subtitles(SMI file), and every time I try to get them to work, I see either some sort of gibberish or just boxes. I have the latest version of VLC player (1.1.11).
When I try to play the video and subtitle file in Windows Media Player, it works fine, so i'm not quite sure why they are not working.

Thank you!

In the Preferences -> Subtitles you need to find out the correct code page in Default Encoding drop list.

Is your VLC interface in Korean or in English or what? Do you have a sample subtitle file for download somewhere?
