Network stream playback results in no video, just audio

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Network stream playback results in no video, just audio

Postby Caesar_091 » 08 Dec 2011 17:09

Trying to play a BluRay Disc stream hosted by MakeMKV internal streaming server results in no video, just audio.
I'm using MackeMKV v1.6.16 (Mac build) and VLC (1.1.12 64bit Intel Mac build)

When I try to play the video stream in VLC I can only hear sound from the title playing without any video signal.
Since I don't know if it's a VLC issues I'll post this on MakeMKV forum too.

VLC is reporting no errors or warning; but in the message window it reports these messages...

Code: Select all

avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (192626 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (8406 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9252 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (47811 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (344444 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (7197 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (7506 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (234468 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9815 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9931 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (202179 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (8728 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9245 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (202409 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (8744 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9573 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (205863 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (8856 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9509 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (208885 bytes) avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (9093 bytes) .... .... ....
Probably a VC-1 codec problem related to VLC... right?
Any idea on how to get video playback to work? Or VC-1 is just not yet Mac playback-able?

PS: this happens with both *.ts and *.m2ts streams as you can see in the attached pics.
