VLC Video format for Nokia X3...

Hi, I've got the mobile phone "Nokia X3".
Starting from videos in .avi or .flv, I tried to convert them to .mp4, becouse my phone should read that format. Using all the video encodings of VLC, my phone doesn't read any file I've created.
It can read an .mp4 recorded by a camera, but not the .mp4 created by VLC.
How it's possible? There's some way to save a video that can be read on my phone?
