Hi, i did have a search around, but couldnt find anything similar.

So here goes

Ive used VLC a while now, and recently reinstalled xp, along with VLC. Now whatever i try and play, it appears very pale. And looks a bit distorted, some funny atrefacts going on etc.

Ive tried reinstalling, to no avail, i never toiuch any settings, and the files play fine in other players, so it must be VLC specific. Though these files used to run in it fine.

Thx in advance for any help

Hi I just installed VLC for the first time I seem to be having the same problem you were
running WinXP, Nvidia Geforce FX 5200, latest drivers (the ones posted like last Wednesday)

DirectX up to date
I've been using Media Player Classic with FFdshow for a long time, worked fine for me, had no complaints that currently outputs to
a friend hounded me into trying VLC, I've heard a lot of good things about it so I came in with an open mind
I do still have FFDSHOW installed, could that possibly be causing this problem?

any help would be appreciated.

Any more specific info that might help I'm willing & able to give.

I kepe tellimg myself not to use latest drivers, but was fresh XP, so i just grabbed of net. Wouldnt suprise me if theres an issue with the latest and something to do with VLC.

As mine now works perfectly

okay you were right :)
I rolled back to the .89 drivers & things work fine

I noivced the release notes for the latest nvidia drivers mention new support for OpenGL 2.0 .89 drivers only supported openGL 1.5 i wonder if there was some wierdness because of me having a semi-older card

thanks for the help :)
