"Check the log for details" (where?)

Postby explode » 19 Feb 2011 15:16

Hi,
I'm trying to open an internet stream. Then error message pops out:

Code: Select all

Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://83.222.4.42:8880/'. Check the log for details.
Any help where can I find the log?

using vlc 1.1.7

Either Tools / Messages, or from the console that you started VLC from.

I get this message when trying to play audiobook

VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'file:///C:/Users/user/Downloads/Iles%2C%20Greg%20-%20Novel%202006%20-%20True%20Evil%20-%20Hill.rar' cannot be detected. Have a look at the log for details.
Could you tell me what I can do to listen to this book please, in non tech terms if possible, thanks!

Remi - thanks, so simple solution.

lindseylcw - the file you are trying to play is not an audio file, this is an archive file (.rar).
First, you need to use a program to unpack this archive, for example WinRAR or 7-zip.
