Simple youtube problem

Postby jb350 » 05 Sep 2011 00:59

I read threads about vlc not parsing ampersands, or having unicode parsing errors. Well I'm just trying to open a simple youtube like that doesnt even have any ampersands, like this:

Vlc crashes immediately when opening this or any other youtube link. Is there a solution or am i just sol?

I just tried to play the file using a windows xp machine at a different location. It works fine. I am having trouble with win7 or with my home internet connection. Next I will try an xp machine at my home location. I have tried and failed with 2 different win7 systems.

Ok I have solved my problem. I set up all my win7 installations myself, but apparently there is something flaky with the permissions on one of the systems. I noticed this when I tried editing the youtube.lua file. I do not have permission to change the file, I can only replace the file with one edited in a different location. I cannot fix my permissions problem easily, I've tried in the past to no avail. So I just moved my vlc installation to C:\VLC and now it works fine. Problem solved.
