Radio streams no longer supported by VLC

Postby xanda » 04 Sep 2011 16:22

Not sure if this has been covered before (have looked around), perhaps with a different internet radio station but one of my favourites has just been 'pulled':

http://aac.popsicle.groovera.com:80/

This played ok in the past but now greets with a 'media player no longer supported' message.

Is there a solution to this or perhaps something in the pipeline to cater for this need?

Yep, looks like they have banned the VLC user agent.
You can edit it through the Tools menu -> Preferences (Show settings=ALL) -> Input/Codecs -> Access modules -> HTTP(S)
then on the right panel change the "vlc" string of the HTTP User Agent to something else like "VideoLAN Client", then Save, exit and restart VLC and it works.
