Flac popping and "digitalized" sound

Hi, i was trying to compare some audio files after conversion to Mp4 from FLAC, when i noticed that 96Kbps file sounded better than FLAC.
So I tried to open FLAC files whit MPC and the audio was perfect. In vlc FLAC has got some low volume "digital" effect, and popping. It a subtle (but noticeable) difference, no major issue. I use in-ear phones.

I can't reproduce this.
Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the resulting log here.
Also upload a SHORT sample of a problematic file to Multiupload.com, so it will upload the file for you to several other hosts, and then post the link to the file here.

that's quite weird, I tried again today and quality was perfect, the problem was gone.
Also log was completly blank.

I'm having this exact same issue.

FLAC audio files ripped off my CD have a distinct popping sound and are significantly quieter than (a) listening to the CD directly through VLC, or (b) listening to MP3s encoded from the FLACs (LAME 3.98, 128KBps Constant, Joint Stereo).

With verbosity level at 2, there are no messages besides the usual events (volume change, etc).

VLC 1.1.11 AND VLC 1.0.5 (both display the problem)
Audio card: IDT High Definition
Windows XP
