Slight stuttering in .TS files

Postby mlt » 10 May 2005 11:58

I just installed my HTPC and there is some small stuttering in high def .ts files. The stutter is really annoying, especially when the picture is panning.

My htpc is a 3.2ghz P4, 1024 ddr, 200gb s-ata barracuda, x800xl... so It should perform just fine.

Clean XP (+sp2) install with only chipset drivers, latest catalysts (5.4), powerdvd and vlc player installed. No extra processes running on the background.

The cpu usage is only about 50% when playing a file. Is there some settings I should change to vlc player to boost up the performance?

Any ideas?

This problem interests me greatly,
I have a much lower end system (VIA C3 800+radeon 7500) and I have the same slight stuttering when playing DVD's. (in win2k, and in BeOS, any version of vlc)
Now the interesting bit is that powerdvd plays them with no problems, which leads me to suspects that there may be a problem in vlc; are there any suggestion as to how to solve this?
