VLC 1.1.10 - Stop showing subtitles

Hello

I update VLC from 1.1.9 to 1.1.10 - and it stop show subtitles.
I Reset my preferences - and nothing changed.

Problem with srt subs, subs in MKV and so on.

Edit: just changed the font from Arial to another one, that fixed it (after restarting VLC). Tried to set it to Arial again, and it was broken again.

Well guys, I had have the same problem as the others. With version 1.1.10 it simply does'nt show the subtitles (srt), so I removed the latest version and installed an older one and now it's working perfect, so it seems to me you got some work to do!

This coincedes with the removal of the much hated cache-generating fontconfig support on Windows. If that is the problem, reverting is easy but it will only reintroduce the other bug... So no, it's not that easy as you imply.

Hi,

i'm having the same problem, could this be affecting everyone? It's not just the subtitles that are broken, the OSD is broken as well, which is the real pain. Subtitles in anime (in an MKV container) continue to work perfectly though; could it be that they are actually subpictures? How should I go about confirming this?

Now, I should mention that, at one time, I had a font manager (FontExplorer X, a beta if I recall correctly) installed. It made using hundreds and hundreds of commercial fonts in design applications a breeze, but also came with a whole slew of other problems, so I ended up removing it. Since then some applications - like IE 6.0 which I stopped using when Julius Caesar took office - have occasionally had some problems displaying the right typefaces. I'm not sure whether these problems showed up just before or after I removed FontExplorer X, and what I undertook to try and fix this. I do know however, that I never completely fixed this behaviour, and never cared, because all of the applications I use have kept working perfectly.

Is there ANY chance that this might be related somehow? It seems far-fetched to me, but I can't help but wonder whether other people experiencing this problem also have/had a font manager installed.

I'm having the same problem too. I don't have the logs here, but the debug line about freetype looked like this :

As if the "default" paths for fonts had been modified and merged. Of course, no subtitles on my vids, due to the cumulation of the font paths, I presume.
I uninstalled Pressreader, cleaned the registry, and this time the freetype debug showed the (null) that everyone else here have.

Hoping this can help in any way...
