Version 1.1.10 crashes

Postby blueinblue » 24 Jun 2011 08:14

I've had VLC and its updates for years without any problems. Ever since I downloaded 1.1.10, it plays a DVD for a few minutes, then crashes. I've tried several DVDs that play perfectly fine in my other DVD player (connected to a TV), so the problem appears to be this new version. My primary use for VLC is for DVDs.

There are no error messages or anything. The player simply quits. I've uninstalled the 1.1.10 version, eliminated all remnants, then downloaded the version again, but the same thing happens.

I'm using a laptop with Windows XP. Would that make any difference? The crashes have occurred only with this newer version of VLC.

My best guess would be a regression in one of the underlying libraries, since there hasn't been many changes in VLC proper between 1.1.9 and 1.1.10.

Yes, libavcodec mpeg-2 decoding regression.
