Using the RemoteOSD module

Postby Apaco » 01 Jul 2011 19:13

Hello,

I am trying to view a remote desktop running VNC Server. Based on the very limited info out there it looks like I should be able to use the following command line:
vlc --rmtosd-host=192.168.1.34 --rmtosd-port=5900

I have disabled authentication on the VNC Server so --rmtosd-password shouldn't be needed and I also tried setting a password and adding --rmtosd-password=test1 to the command line with no success.

I've run a packet capture on the VNC Server and do not see any traffic from the computer running VLC so VLC isn't even reaching out.

Am I missing something or expecting the Remote-OSD over VNC module to do something it wasn't intended to do?

*EDIT* I know I'm missing a URL/MRL but don't know what to use there either... vlc tcp://? It doesn't appear that the vnc:// was ever implemented as suggest in 2006 (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16311&p=56796&hilit=vnc#p49996)

Pardon my NOOB-ness but does anyone know how to determine the developer of the module (the RemoteOSD module specifically) so I could reach out to him/her/them?
