Issue playing Startrek: Voyager DVDs

Issue playing Startrek: Voyager DVDs

Postby Wolfy » 17 Dec 2010 04:00

Hello,

I am having trouble with playing a DVD of StarTrek: Voyager season 1 where the first episode on the disc (Care Taker parts 1 and 2) played OK but the second episode (Parallax) starts skipping at about 5 minutes in. The skipping is such that in a dialogue sequence I would not hear one line, the next line would be skipped, and I would hear the line after that. I have not found an exact pattern to the skipping but I am willing to try to figure that part of it out. The DVD works OK in Windows Media Player.

Specs:
  • Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (fully up to date)
  • VLC 1.1.5
  • ASUS M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3
  • AMD Phenom II x4 955 (3.2 GHz)
  • 8gb DDR3
  • 2x1TB HDD
  • Plextor PX-B940SA
  • ATI (AMD) Radeon HD5770 (just updated to driver version 10.12)
  • Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty.
If you need any additional information feel free to ask.

I've never replied to any posts online at any forum, but just came across yours and thought I would at least let you know you're not alone. I too have had issues with Star Trek Voyager DVDs. I've been trying to get through season 7 for over a year. I thought perhaps it was the DVD player I was using, so I began using my computer. I now think it's a manufacturing defect in the DVDs. I'm sorry I can't offer any assistance, but I would appreciate a reply from anyone who has any idea what is going on with these discs!
