Trouble viewing stream

Postby daviddoria » 24 Nov 2010 18:13

I open one instance of VLC. I go to "Media->Streaming", go to the "Capture Device" tab, type "/dev/video0" for "Video device name", click "Stream", click "Next", change "New destination" to HTTP and click "Add", then click "Stream". It seems to "work" because my processor shows a lot of activity.

I then open another instance of VLC. I go to "Media->Open network stream", and type "http://192.168.0.105" for the network URL (this is my machines IP). Then I click "Play" and I see an error:

Code: Select all

Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://192.168.0.105'. Check the log for details.
My camera definitely works because if I do "Media->Open capture device" with the same settings I see the video.

Any thoughts on why I can't view the stream?

Thanks,

David
