Transcode integrating subtitles?

Hi all,

First, if this is not the correct forum to post , please move it to the correct one.

I need to integrate a .srt subtitles file into a video.

I am using VLC to transcode some videos using the "Open file advanced", choosing the file to transcode and clicking on dropdown button "Convert".

I've tried to click "Use subtitles" and selecting the file at the "Open file advanced" screen, but after transcoding,the output file does not contain the subtitles.

Am I doing something wrong or it is not possible to integrate subtitles when transcoding a file?

You can burn the subtitles inside the file, using soverlay, or use a separate tool for that.

Isn't soverlay the comand used when checking up the "use subtitles file" checkbox at the "Open file advanced" screen?
