Autosize: Which algorithm do you use for resize?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Autosize: Which algorithm do you use for resize?

Postby BRotondi » 30 Jan 2011 22:15

Hello

There are a couple of algorithms. If you batch convert some photos with XnView you will realize, that only Lanczos does a really sharp job. Gauss/Hermite/Bi-linear/Square etc. will lose sharpness.

Question: Which algorithm do you use for resize? E.g. when I watch a 1920-Movie on a 800x600 TFT or a 1290 on a FullHD TFT?

Thanks!
Bruno

(btw. Thanks for VLC, really a very nice Player!!!)

Usually, your GPU does the resize.

I see... so it depends from the video output (DirectX, OpenGL, ...) and the installed drivers...

Thanks!
