Possible To Take Multiple Screenshots, Spread Out Over Time?

I like the Shift-S feature in VLC which takes screenshots one at a time.

In order to take multiple screenshots of the video spread out by a minute or two, I'll advance the video ahead and then press Shift-S again, over & over until I get a nice selection to review and dwindle down to the favorites.

My question is if it's possible to automate this process in VLC rather than doing so manually.

If not, and anyone's aware of some software (preferably freeware) that can do the task, please provide some suggestions.

I already searched scene + filter after he posted it a few days ago - thanks for the condescension Sébastien

Googling it and looking at the results, reading up & testing it out did not work.
I am still requesting assistance with this procedure.

Furthermore, I now see that this is the typical method you guys use to "troubleshoot"...

You need to use the scene filter now.

I know this might sound stupid but how do I do that?

I guess I have to use the old version again.

Just saying you have to use scene filter is not helpful at all for us technically challenged people. Could you elaborate in detail on what exactly do we have to do?

If no one gave a detailed response, it's because no one has enough time to write a tutorial for every user question...
the first response in google gives you a command line you can adapt for you.

I'm not asking for someone to create a new tutorial just for me nor do I know how to use a command line.

I figured an existing, official vlc tutorial would exist here on the forum that someone could link to.

Ok, getting precise:

1) Can anyone tell me which setting to select below?



...an old tutorial online says to select "Image File" but that option is no longer there.

In the scene filter menu, don't change defaults values (png, -1, -1)
recording ratio put :
- 25 if you want one out of 25 picture (will be like 1 per seconds)
- 1 if you want all images
- etc...

Then go to the "filters" menu and type scene in the text field (below the checkboxes)
You will find your pictures in your document folder.
