Soundproblem [corrupt AC3 playback @ SB Audigy 2]

Postby Guest » 15 May 2005 22:22

Hey mates,

vlc is a pretty cool mm-player, but I can't play Files (doesn't matter whether it's an mpeg or avi) containing AC3 5.1 soundstreams. The sound is looping in a strange way and my digital A/V-Receiver is switching between AC3 and normal stereo decoding.

Is it an incompability with Creative cards, or is it a (perhabs known) bug in vlc?

Sound Problem Warbling or Looping Echo into Audigy 2

Sounds like my probem too, when I choose Audio Device =a/52 over s/pdif. It does light up the 5.1 AC3 light on my receiver, but the sound is awful. If I choose "5.1" I get a stereo downmix that shows up as Pro-Logic on my receiver.

Audigy is set up as a bit-perfect passthrough.

This affects all filetypes with 5.1 AC3.

WMP plays avi's multichannel out fine, but won't play .ts and .vob, so I need to make this work with VLC Media Player. Ideas welcome.
