Play splitted mkv

Hi,

I am creating mkv files which are splitted by duration and linked together (mkvmerge --split duration:xx:xx:xx --link ...). The manual of mkvmerge says that a videoplayer should be able to see these bunch of files as a whole normal movie showing only one timeline.
My vlc 1.1.4 (Ubuntu 10.10) does not recognize the linked files. I have to put them in a playlist which results in a short interruption between files.
I can upload two sample files of 10s each (672kB+827kB=1,5MB, H.264 HP@3.1, Mono AC3). But I don't know how to upload here.
