Swscale

So uh, what does Swscale do? And how does one make it do something?

I thought it would change the image scaling algorithm. Liking changing from bicubic to lanczos or something. But I've never been able to get it to do anything. This guide indicated that it would only change the scaling mod if I used a different output module, specifically OpenGL. While I did some some change, it was extremely minor, and changing scaling modes had no effect on said change. Another guide said that Windows GDI video output would work on windows, but that did nothing but make it nearest neighbor, setting scaling modes did nothing to it either.

How does one change how VLC upscales? Is Swscale how to do that? If so.... how?
