Latest version of VLC no longer shows Buff %

Postby BeckiM » 30 Oct 2010 05:59

In previous versions of VLC, when listening to the BBC listen again streams, it used to show Buff % in the status bar where the time elapsed is before it started so i could see what was happening. Is there any way to get it to display this again? I have searched preferences but cannot find anything there.

Please help,

Thanks.

This hasn't changed. Are you correctly using 1.1.4 ?

Yes 1.1.4, i have noticed it occasionally shows a decreasing shadow in that area which i assume indicates the buff, but it is so intermittent, not showing more than it shows, it isn't much help. I just upgraded from 1.0.5 which always showed it as 'Buff --%'.

1) the buffering is now showed by the gradient
2) the buffering is done better and faster in VLC.

1) The problem is that this only shows when the focus is on VLC, and even then only half the time. When it's not showing i don't know whether the players buffering or not, it does sometimes just stop. I wouldn't mind the gradient instead of a % if it was reliable. Any indication of what's happening would help.

2) I'm not sure what you mean by this, i haven't noticed any other difference in the buffering. I use if for listening to BBC radio programs like this one: mms://wm.bbc.co.uk/wms/bbc7coyopa/bbc7_-_saturday_1300.wma
It's not the most reliable stream so being able to see the buff does help.

As it doesn't seem likely that this will be fixed or even seen as a problem please could someone tell me exactly which version this change was made. I'm finding the buff just doesn't work as well for the BBC programs i use if for. It's not just that it's not showing the % most the time, it's also buffering from the beginning completely before it will buffer from the point choose to start from.

Thanks.
