Problem playing Sunshine .m2ts

I've used VideoLan to play a few DVDs and blu-rays, and its worked fine - but it won't play the Sunshine blu-ray. I have the latest VideoLAN 1.1.4 installed - and Sunshine is the US blu-ray.

I've got the blu-ray onto hard disk (using AnyDVD) and it plays fine with Media Player Classic, so I think the hard disk copy is OK.

What happens with VideoLAN is there is no picture and the sound is breaking up continuously. I'm playing the file 00001.m2ts which is 26,492,742 KB long according to Windows XP.

VideoLAN shows the codec details as

Maybe these last 2 streams are the picture-in-picture "Enhanced Viewing Mode" on the blu-ray? Maybe these are what is causing the problem because I've played other H264 disks on VideoLan.

When the 00001.m2ts file is 'playing', the statistics tab shows audio "decoded" and "played" counting up normally, with video "decoded" and "displayed" stay zero. The input bitrate bounces around 36Mbits. [I assume its ok to play the .m2ts file directly instead of converting the disk to ISO?]

I'm running on a 2.8GHz dual core, 4GB Windows XP machine with NVidia graphics and vlc.exe uses about 14% cpu when playing. I've tried it on a different machine (3GHz, 4GB, XP, Radeon graphics) and it has the same problem playing the file.

I'm stumped - the only thing I can put it down to is the VideoLan is confused with the picture-in-picture stream? This is the only thing I can think of thats different to other movies I've played - but then I'm new to this.

I can split the file into parts using 7zip. When you say 'small part' do you mean something like the first 1 MByte, or 10 MBytes, or the first 30 MBytes? Or were you thinking bigger?

If it's a real BD rip with a high bitrate then cut a chunk of 100-200 MB max.
If it's a reencode of a BD then 50 MB will do.

OK, I used DGSplit to get the first 100MB and 7zipped it to get it below the 100M limit on mediafire. The file is http://www.mediafire.com/file/oo6i6ee5o ... 00001_0.7z which is the first 100M of 00001.m2ts.
