Sound 7.1 in VLC

Postby danal » 25 Oct 2010 14:50

Colleagues, does VLC play the 7.1 sound? I have MKV files with the 7.1 sound, but VLC allows me only to play in 5.1. What is wrong? My sound card can play 7.1.

We need more info such as the audio codec used.
Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the whole resulting log here.

dts info: DTS channels:6 samplerate:48000 bitrate:1536000

This is the reason.
Maybe it is a bug though.

Ic your point.

I personally ripped this blu-ray to the hard drive myself using DVDfab. I only enabled the DTS Master 7.1 soundtrack so if VLC is identifying it as a 5.1 soundtrack there must be some sort of down sampling happening somewhere.
Any ideas for a solution or fix?

Does VLC even support 7.1 channel playback??

DTS Master 7.1 might not be decoded correctly, indeed.

Share the file (and if you can remove the video, it is even better)

I have successfully created an audio only file. File size is 3.70 GB any suggestions for how to get it to you or how to post it?

You can try this link as well if the first one is not working:

Can't you cut it in something smaller?

Use DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

If it's audio only then 20 MB max will be enough.

Hello.

Any luck with this issue??

I noticed a new update was released... I was surprised to see that it did not resolve the issue.
