Buffering + transcoding + streaming

Postby amped » 14 Oct 2010 20:12

Using VLC 1.0.2 to transcode & stream multiple video formats to MPEG2 and watch them on my dreambox hd receiver, but on dynamic scenes I've got low frame rate & dropouts (possibly not enough CPU power to transcode the dynamic scene on the fly). Is it possible to use some kind of buffering in transcode+streaming mode on VLC, so the dynamic scenes would have enough time to be converted without dropouts?

i7 2.6GHz (if that important)

hmm, ok, increase the vb in transcoding, and increase the caching.

Can you provide the logs too?

You mean video bitrate in Stream Output > Sout stream > Transcode ? I've set 650 000 there, if I set 800 000 I've got more "slowdowns"... also the "hurry up" is checked, without it even the sound is dropping...

Where I should increase cache? In Input Codecs > Access modules > File or in Stream Output > Sout stream > RTP?
