How to take high quality video snapshots?

Postby gromit190 » 10 Oct 2010 18:05

Hi :)

I want to take snapshots of my paragliding video. The video itself is in HD 1080i. But when I take snapshots, the quality becomes very poor.

How can I take high quality video snapshots?

Thanks in advance

Use BOB or Yadif 2x deinterlacer and save snapshots as PNG format.

Could you be more specific? What do these do? And how can I get them?

I'm sorry that I'm such a newbie :P

Your video is interlaced as shown by the "i" of 1080i so you may want to use one of the BOB deinterlacers for optimum picture quality but at the cost of high CPU usage.
Menu Video -> Deinterlace mode then select BOB or Yadif 2X.

PNG format is lossless while JPG is lossy so select PNG for best quality.
Menu Tools -> Preferences -> Video -> Video snapshots -> Format then select PNG.
