DVD Video_TS and ISO files still not working as of 1.1.3

Postby Namrepus221 » 19 Aug 2010 22:37

OK I posted this on the windows board, and I figured I'd move it here considering the fact that 1.1.3 is out and it's not working there as well.

Any time I try playing a VIDEO_TS folder, or a DVD ISO file the menu of the DVD doesn't work

http://yfrog.com/9fvlcdvdproblemp <- Taken with VLC 1.1.0
http://yfrog.com/j0vlcdvdproblem2p <- Taken with VLC 1.0.5

There's the example I created.

It complains this error message when i try it (or something similar to it, the series of numbers and letters is diffrerent from DVD to DVD

Code: Select all

main error: picture to display 014f64ec has invalid status 2
I've submitted a trouble ticket for this already. I'm just trying to figure out if any one else has issues with DVD's like this or if there is a way to fix it with options in VLC.

1.1.4-git doesn't work either

returns this error in the message console

Code: Select all

main error: picture to display 01979510 has invalid status 2
I like using VLC to test DVDs that I make before I burn them, so this is really quite annoying that I can't see main menu's. Sub menu's acctually work like they are supposed to...but any "Main Menu" either shows a Green screen, or the last frame of whatever was playing before I went back to it

Force libmpeg2 as the decoder (vlc --codec libmpeg2). It looks like avcodec does not like your DVD menus.

My ISO files won't play at all. Not just the menu. VLC won't open them and usually crashes when I try to close it once it has failed to open the ISO.

Try to open VIDEO_TS, as well as disc image, using GUI, with option "Open Disc", not "Open Directory" or "Open file".

Open disc only seems to open disc with 1.1.3. Can't get it to open the iso files. Can't get to the video_ts file as it is now an iso. I stored the DVD's as iso files. They all worked perfectly until I updated to 1.1.3

OK Got the command line thing for "--codec libmpeg2" working.... and it does work now to show the menu....

But it causes a more serious problem... as in the video doesn't play..and VLC starts taking up to 99% of my CPU runtime! My CPU in use fluctuates between a 60 to 70% work load as well, and I'm running dual cores.

For some reason videos are also going weird with aspect ratios as well... on a few dvd's the aspect ratio is set to 1280x480...and it's not even a widescreen set up.

What the heck did you guys do to my favorite media player!?

Hello,
I cannot play an ISO image either. I have tried the '--codec libmpeg2' option and then it will play the intro to the video but if I try to switch to either the start of the movie or just click on the tool, the tool immediately uses 100% of one of the CPUs and just sits there.

I've tried versions 1.1.1 through 1.1.4. I'm on Windows Vista Professional and develop software as well but I can't seem to figure this one out.

It is a new video/dvd, Clash of the titans. I'm assuming that it is having a problem with the menu items in the video.

Any help is appreciated.

Steve

Hi,
I finally got it to play. I had to do a couple of things. First, I went back to 1.1.4, then I used the Daemon Tool software to mount the disk, then I opened the VIDEO_TS directory and made sure to up the buffer and use the --codec libmpeg2. That did it. It took a while and a lot of frustration. Please fix this so it just plays from the ISO image file.

Thx, Steve
