Screenshot problem - Screenshots come out super-short

Currently VLC Player does not capture screenshots properly for me.

On some simpler files, like .mp4 x264 or .mpg, it captures them fine.

But, on .mov, .mkv, .avi, and so on, it does not capture screenshots properly.

Instead, (using a screenshot from the HD inception trailer which has a .mov extension), they come out like this (click it to see the full size):
Image

^That was supposed to be a screenshot of the Inception logo in the trailer.

So as you can see, the width dimensions are fine but for whatever reason VLC player shrinks the height dimensions really really short...

Any idea what the problem is? This only started happening recently. Resetting preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling do nothing. I have screenshots from the same trailer dated June 24th when it last worked properly for me. Should I just uninstall and use whatever release was available on June 24th?

Or is there something I can do to fix this short of waiting for a bug fix? (it does seem like a bug to me, since it captures screenshots from other video sources perfectly)

How can I get them to you? VLC doesn't crash or anything, just doesn't take proper screenshots for me.

swscale debug: 1920x798 chroma: I420 -> 1920x52 chroma: RV24 with scaling using Bicubic (good quality)

There is definitively a bug, here.
Can you share the video file, please?

In that particular instance it was Inception Trailer 3.

Here's the download link:
http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/ince ... 3_1080.mov

^If that download link doesn't work let me know, I'll put the video file I used in particular in a .rar file and put it on megaupload or rapidshare or something.

It's not just on that file though. Some other video files experience the same problem.

What's strange though is that back in June I took screenshots from that trailer with no problem at all. I can provide one of those screenshots if you need me to (but I don't have the log for those though).
