ECHO on Soundtrack_vlc 1.1.2_How do you get rid of the echo?

I have VLC media player 1.1.2 on a windows XP machine and when I play a DVD I get a sound track echo.
I see on the form(s) that other people have the same issue.
Just search on the form for the word Echo.

Is there a solution?
