play folder crahes 1.1.1.2

Postby hoghead » 05 Aug 2010 15:14

Playing a folder of valid files in v1.1.2 now crashes. Playing the individual files within the folder does work.

And, the destination folder/path for conversions is not saved. This would be a convenience.

Thanks,

Always provide a full threads stack trace when reporting a crash. Otherwise, you are wasting your time.

I would be happy to if I had any idea as to what you mean, which is one reason I usually avoid such places as forums because everyone is so cryptic. I took the time to provide meaningful feedback. It's up to the forum to decide what to do with it. I won't take the time again.

Thing is, if you were just asking "how do I do this", then people could perhaps answer the question simply.

But how do I fix a crash, well, someone has to find the bug and fix it. If you can't patch the code, then you need to provide enough informations for other people to to it. If you can't provide the informations either, then you have to wait for someone else to find your problem by accident.

Personnally, if I just open a folder it does not crash.

i have the same error .. im not sure how to do the full stack thread trace so heres a pic of the error i get .. The error only pops up if i select add folder in the playlist and select a folder. If i use add file it will allow the folder to be added.

Use a release, not a development version.

You're trying to open a network drive? I think this bug was fixed in version 1.1.2-4-g8a6a550 and later.

I have installed the latest version of VLC with great regret. Nearly every music file I play from my external hard drive gives me that error message posted above. When I place any music files directly in my public music folder, they play just fine. Trouble is, I store all my music files on the external since the laptop HD is rather small. I cannot find any setting that can add folders to the library. Whats going on?
