Location for recorded movies

Postby avetiso » 09 Aug 2010 01:26

I am new with VLC and could not find out by myself the location where VLC stores recorded movies. Could somebody help me with that?

Presumably you are referring to when you press the "Record" button (red circle)?

The default, on Windows 7 anyway, appears to be in "My Videos", so "C:\Users\(Your username)\Videos".

I am using Windows XP Pro. I tried to record video while playing it in VLC. I clicked red circle - Record button at the beginning of the movie and clicked it again when movie ended. I checked the My Documents/My Video folder and found nothing. Then I run a Search on the entire PC trying to find any new files there and found nothing. I also checked VLC program folder and could not find anything new there as well. Probably, movie wasn't recorded. In such a case, why did it happen? Any suggestions?

Not sure of the default location for Windows XP, however, in VLC, if you go to "Tools >> Messages", set the "Verbosity Level" to 2, open the file, and press the Record button the location should be displayed in the Messages output (should be the "main debug: using sout chain=`record{dst-prefix=...." line).

If you can't find it post the Messages here (using <Code> tags preferably).

Cheers, Arite.

I wish I could record a clip by just entering the start time and the end time.
