Error Opening TV Card

Hello everyone,

I am new to VideoLan so please bare with me if I am doing something stupid. I just bought a TabletPC and want to be able watch my TV realtime through the Tablet. I have a main computer from which I want to capture the video and then transmit to the tablet. The problem is that VLC crashes everytime I open the capture cards. I have been able to properly transmit other files without any error. The following are the relavent information regarding my main PC:

-DirectX 9.0c
-2 capture cards: ATI TV Wonder Pro and Avermedia TV98 (both crash)
-Nvidia 9800GT video card
-Windows XP SP2
-Latest version of drivers for both cards from manufacturer sites.

I have found another topic on the forum with a similar issue but no resolution.

VLC version 0.8.1 just doesn't work with PVR cards. You'll have to do what I do to watch vidoe through my eHome Wonder, use one of the 0.8.2 development versions.
