Oversize screenshot resolution

Postby urban myth » 09 Jul 2010 23:21

Hi,

I am having an issue with VLC whereby it gives me screenshots that are not the storage/display resolution - as required by a tracker I am a member of.
For some reason, the screens are being created at a resolution of >=720x540; whereas the source is NTSC (>=720x480).
But this only happens occassionally, not all of the time. It happens on both source and encodes

I have spoken to some mates of mine about this too, and they occassionally get a similar issue. But they are using Linux, whereas I am using XP, so this tells me it's not OS specific. I am using 1.1.0, they are using 1.0.0.

Are we missing a setting somewhere maybe? Does anyone have any idea whats happening here?

It appears to display correctly inside VLC, just the screens seem to be slightly larger vertically when snapshotted.

Someone elsewhere suggested it has something to do with NTSC and pixel shapes and aspect ratios.... is this indeed the case?
